NEWS/RECENT CASE STUDY:

‘HELICOPTERS AND CYCLONES DON’T MIX'

We recently worked with international production company Hometeam Global Content to produce Robinson Helicopter’s Climb Higher Australia videos, as part of a global docu-series showcasing the diverse capabilities of the Robinson fleet.

The Australian campaign included a key 5-minute documentary, many social media and web cutdowns, and a large library of footage and images for Robinson Helicopter Company’s future content.

We spent months planning for the shoot with a helicopter operator in rural Queensland - but mother nature had other plans in store for us.

Five days before filming commenced, it became evident that Cyclone Kirrily was going to heavily impact our filming location during our shoot week. Sadly, the helicopter operator (who were both our talent and location) had to withdraw due to safety considerations. Helicopters and cyclones certainly don’t mix.

This meant that less than a week out, we had a fantastic concept, a top-notch team, and all gear + travel booked, but we didn’t have anything to actually film!

With mere days to go, and crew/client already flying over from the US, we were tasked with finding a willing, suitable and engaging helicopter operator in NSW to star in the videos.

We worked long hours, making countless phone calls and chasing leads (while also managing the busy pre-production period that happens a few days before a shoot). Eventually we found and negotiated with a wonderful helicopter operator in New South Wales - Riverina Helicopters.

The hard work paid off as the shoot went tremendously well! We shot in Griffith, NSW over 5 days with an ambidextrous 12-person onsite production crew (9 Aussies, 3 Americans).

We built the Australian film and photography crew, assisted with story development, managed the local budget, sourced the talent, procured the locations, booked all flights and accommodation and liaised with onsite agency to realise the vision.

All stakeholders were thrilled with the result. The key video has 50k+ views across social media platforms alone, which is an exceptional result for a longer runtime video.

We think the videos are pretty epic (if we do say so ourselves). Watch the key video below!
